Miconazole Resistant Yeast Infections

By Jason King

More women are now creating miconazole resistant Candida infections with their OTC yeast creams. They continually apply the cream to their vaginal infection even if it isn't working, or they don't even need the cream in the first place. It doesn't take that long at all for the fungus to become resistant.

The biggest problem with this approach to curing your infection is, the itching in your vagina is just a symptom of the infection. All you're doing with the cream is applying it to just one symptom of the fungal overgrowth in your body. You're not treating the infection, and the cream will never get to the actual infection.

The Candida yeast lives in your body all the time, and it has been there for years. You haven't just been infected with it, your body has just lost control of it. Up until you started suffering from your symptoms your body was keeping the yeast under control which was making it harmless. Now it has mutated into a fungus because your body's natural defenses are not doing their job properly.

Because your body's natural defenses have been compromised they yeast will continue to grow in numbers and mutate into a fungus. You have the symptoms in your vagina because the fungus loves to live in a warm, moist place, so this is where you experience the itching.

These symptoms are not an indication that the infection is just in your vagina, and this is why a lot of women are unable to cure their infection with an anti fungal cream that contains miconazole. Miconazole is good at killing fungus, but you need to stop the yeast in your body mutating.

The yeast is not the problem when it comes to infections as this organism lives in all of us all of the time. The infections start when your body can't keep the yeast under control anymore, and then it starts mutating into an aggressive fungus that starts feeding on. Your body has to regain control of the bacterial environment in your body, and until it does you will always have fungus growing in your intestines and vagina. The cream you're using is just creating a stronger strain of fungus that is going to be more difficult to eliminate from your body. - 29929

Nicotine Patches - Do They Really Work?

By Tim Bock

Nicotine Patches as a type of NRT can be used as soon as you throw away your last cigarette to get rid of your smoking habit. There is no need for you to let time pass before you apply the patch as it is advisable to immediately use them when you stop smoking. These patches contain a measured dose of nicotine that is readily absorbed by the skin. These patches enable you to slowly decrease the level of nicotine in your system as you begin using smaller doses over a few weeks.

There are also types of nicotine patches that you can use depending on how heavy you smoke. There are 16-hour patches that work mostly for light to average smokers. When you use it, you are less likely to experience headaches, sleep problems, and racing heartbeats. For those who usually experience early morning withdrawal symptoms, this patch will not be a good choice as it does not deliver nicotine at night. There are also 24-hour patches that give a constant dose of nicotine. It gets rid of early morning withdrawal symptoms but could cause slight skin irritations and disturbance in your sleep pattern. For those who smoke quite heavily, then you should use this patch since you need a steadier dose of nicotine all throughout the day.

The Nicotine Patch is touted as one of the Great Ways to Quit Smoking, but is it really all that it's cracked up to be? Some of the side effects of the nicotine patch are even less fun than those it tries to cure. Having tried quitting (and failing) with the nicotine patch, I've gone through quite a few of the side effects myself, and they're no walk in the park.

Such as the case with coronary artery disease, initially doctors feared that it would be unsafe to use the patch while suffering from this condition but a recent study found that nicotine patches are indeed a safe form of smoking cessation therapy for people inflicted with this disease and that it may in fact improve the oxygen and blood flow throughout the body to the heart. Although no evidence supports the non-use of this product by teenagers it is still recommended that only smokers over the age of 18 use this product.

This wasn't really bad, but it's worth mentioning. The area around where the patch was applied got nice and red (and stayed that way for a few days after I stopped using the patch.) Comparatively, though, I didn't really mind this one. So, yeah, the side effects aren't great. I personally didn't have much luck quitting with the nicotine patch (I used something called the EasyQuit System, which is akin to quitting cold turkey, only easier) but many people seem to swear by them. I personally wouldn't use it just because of how bad the side effects are. - 29929

Live An Addiction Free Life

By Julie Thomas

Lived an abnormal life gripped in drug addiction? Is life not worth living for anymore? Life is the most precious gift of god & you have every right to live your life as normally as others do. Get to know more about drug addiction & how to come out of it.

Drug abuse can lead to drug dependence or addiction. Drug addiction may also follow the use of drugs for physical pain relief, though this is rare in people without a previous history of addiction. The exact reason of drug abuse and dependence is not yet known.

The genetic make-up of the individuals, peer pressure, emotional distress, anxiety, depression, and environmental stress are all factors which seem to be involved. Children who grow up in an environment of illicit drug use may first see their elders using drugs. This may put them at a higher risk for developing an addiction later in life for both environmental and genetic reasons.

Drug intoxication and drug overdose may be accidental or intentional. Drug withdrawal symptoms can occur when use of a substance is stopped. Withdrawal symptoms vary, depending on the particular substance. The withdrawal symptom depends on the length of time the drug was being used. Drug intoxication, overdose, and withdrawal can be life-threatening in some situations.

Drug Rehab was brought about to combat the evil effect of drug addiction as its use became more and more prevalent among teenagers and adolescents. The punk and rock culture that was prevalent made the use of these drugs appear 'cool' and once caught in the grip of this evil, the individual became more and more dependent on its use.

It is often advised that a patient stays at least 3 months in drug rehab, as those who stay longer have better results than those who spend less time.

Everyone is entitled to a happy, joyous, addiction-free life, with all of its benefits. The best rehab is the one that guarantees improved health, success in relationships, a feeling of self-worth & a life of abundance.

Individuals and families alike find sanctuary from the pain of drug abuse - at Sunset Malibu. Their addiction recovery facility is set in a beautiful, private location in Malibu, California. The patients will experience the highest quality amenities and comforts they deserve. - 29929

Pharmacist Certification For Health Care

By Adriana Noton

The man or woman that you see behind the counter in the pharmacy that is available to answer all of your questions is a certified pharmacist. They must know how to measure and mix medications, and they must be able to answer a myriad of different questions about those medications. Here are the things a pharmacist must do for certification for health care.

It is best if a student decides to become a pharmacist while he is still in high school. He can take extra science and mathematics courses in order to prepare himself for pharmacy school. He will need to learn how to write well, and he will need a good working knowledge of computers. It would be to his advantage to apply for a job or volunteer at a hospital, pharmacy or nursing home during those years.

There are three ways that you start your pharmacist career. Most students go to an accredited college and earn a four year degree before going on to pharmacy school. Others opt to go straight from high school into a pharmacy program known as "0-6". The other option is to go into an accelerated program.

Whichever program you choose should meet these qualifications. The school should be accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education, they should have top of the line computers, science courses and science laboratories and they should be a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.

Every pharmacy school has a list of courses that the students will need before they can enter pharmacy school. Those courses take approximately 2 years to complete at the undergraduate level. Some students go on and take 3 or 4 years of undergraduate studies instead of just the necessary 2 years.

Once the student finishes the two years of required class work, he will need to take the Pharmacy College Admissions Test. Once he has the test results, he must fill out the application form and gather the materials that are required by the pharmacy school. Some schools require an interview with potential students before acceptance.

Pharmacy school in itself is 4 years of study and practice, making the total number of years of schooling six. The student must work under a licensed pharmacist for a certain number of hours, depending on the state requirements. When he finishes, he will have the PharmD degree, meaning a doctorate degree in pharmacy.

When the student has finished his degree, he will need to take a variety of tests in order to apply for licensure or certification. Each state is different in what they require. These tests will examine the student's knowledge of pharmaceutical subjects as well as the pharmaceutical laws of the state where he will be licensed.

The outlook for jobs pharmacists is above average through 2018. One of the main reasons for this growth is the growing number of older people within the United States who require medications of some kind. The median annual wage for pharmacists is $106,410. Twenty-two percent of pharmacists nationwide make over $120,000 annually.

It is not easy to receive certification for health care as a pharmacist. To reach this goal, a student must spend 6 years studying and however many hours of practice his state requires. However, that still isn't everything. He must successfully pass every test the state requires to become licensed. - 29929

Seattle City Attorney To End Marijuana Possession Cases

By Ace Smith

If you live in Seattle and have been hiding under a rock (or aren't a Seattle criminal attorney like me) you probably haven't heard the good news. The city will no longer be prosecuting marijuana possession cases. Officially. Like cases are being dismissed right now. Is this good or bad? Read on to find out.

Let's not get too far without calming the fears of all you dooms day prophesiers out there. Drug czars will still be prosecuted. People that have pounds and pounds of pot will still be prosecuted. The people that won't be prosecuted will be the college kid that gets caught with a joint. Rest easy.

A potential consequence that immediately jumps out to people, particularly those deathly afraid of drugs, is that marijuana use will begin to run rampant throughout the city. People will start showing up high all over the place, not just in the comfort of their own homes or their favorite dance club. For many, this will restart the drug trade.

Although this is possible, I highly doubt much difference will be seen by the average person. The fact of the matter is that marijuana in those quantities is so widely distributed and consumed that there isn't much farther to go with this new law. People still likely won't be smoking pot out on the street - at least those that aren't doing it already.

A bad effect that may be felt by some is in their pocket book. For some criminal attorneys in Seattle the misdemeanor marijuana possession case is a cash cow. They are relatively straight forward, have some interesting issues, and because of that demand a fee that will make anyone rich, if you can get enough of them. Getting zero of them, however, is not good for the bank balance.

Another consequence for us attorneys, in addition to the fee, will be the fun of these cases (from a theoretical standpoint). Cops usually get the marijuana off of people by searching them illegally or using some less than straightforward tactics to search them. This makes marijuana possession cases one of the few areas where search and seizure law, and the Constitution, can be utilized. That may be gone.

At the end of the day, this is probably a great idea by the City Attorney. It will save a boat load of money for the City (at a time when they need it), it will allow the cops to work on more important things (if there is anything out there in Seattle to investigate), and it will keep people from having their lives ruined for wanting to smoke a joint. - 29929

Alzheimer's disease or better known as dementia is named after its discoverer Doctor Alois Alzheimer. He founded that a person suffering from this illness has progressive brain cells corrosion. At the United States of America, over 4 million persons are affected by Alzheimer's disease. Most of them are over 65 years of age. Scientist proved that the incidence of the disease may increase while the person grows older. Thus, it must not be found on younger generations and it will be unusual if it will be seen on younger people.

The best that can be expected is a slowing of the further deterioration of mental affect. Next while research is ongoing all the time, it must be remembered that most of the current medications work in the same manner. Hence it's not a matter of adding in more drugs, but rather adding in a new medication as a replacement for a previous treatment. On top of that drugs and medications involved in brain chemistry often interact one with another and on top of that with other medications that the patient may be already be taking for a host of other standard and common diseases in the elderly - for example cardiac hear trouble , blood pressure hypertension and arthritis. Overall it can be said that a healthy diet, regular exercise and mental stimulation are preferred to manage the disease. Care giving is also essential for the person under this condition. Close relatives, friends and a caregiver is assigned must take the lead in caring to help the Alzheimer patient to give them the feeling of the importance to live. - 29929
